What is Pulmonary Rehabilitation? Pulmonary rehab is an exercise and education program designed for individuals who have chronic lung disease. Our goal is to help you increase your endurance and decrease shortness of breath. This program strives to enhance the quality of life by promoting immediate and long-term life style changes as well as developing social support. What does it involve? Participants meet for exercise sessions three times a week. Our program is staffed by caring health care professionals who lead participants in a safe and monitored exercise environment. Education includes a variety of topics such as risk factors, nutrition, stress management, exercise, and diet. How much exercise will I have to do? The exercise you do will be based on your individual abilities, and is increased as tolerated. This will be determined by the program director, exercise tech, attending physician and participant. What are the hours? Our hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. You can plan to be in Rehab for about one hour per session. You will be assigned a specific time for your exercise session. If these hours are not suitable to your needs, please speak to our staff about alternate hours. Will my insurance pay? What does it Cost? Our staff will be glad to contact your insurance company and find out about coverage and any out of pocket expense to you. Once this has been determined we will discuss payment options. If you or someone you love suffers from chronic lung disease, you can reach us at 843.374.6166. We at Lake City Community Hospital would like to help you get “BACK INTO LIFE”.
